Maulana Barkati, Shahi Imam of Tipu Sultan Mosque on Wednesday heaped lavish praise on West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, for remaining true to herself , and slammed veteran anti corruption crusader Anna Hazare for betraying the Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief by not attending the rally.
"It is good for Mamata that Anna did not turn up in the rally at Ramlila ground. With Anna skipping this rally goes to show his true colours that he is actually an agent of RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh). He (Anna Hazare) has betrayed Mamata by not attending this rally," Maulana Barkati said.
"Mamata should not read too much from this rally being not turning out to be a hit as it was thought as she remains to be a credible leader who has kept her word. Minority and secular votes will clearly go with Mamata this time," Maulana Barkati added.
Following Anna's last-minute withdrawal, the West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee addressed Trinamool Congress rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan.
