Cadres of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) observed Dussehra festivities in Gurgaon, Haryana, by performing the ancient ritual of worshipping weapons (Shastra Puja) and holding a parade to show its preparedness to gain victory over evil, which is the symbol of the festival.
RSS cadres on Sunday, attired in their khaki short pants, white shirts and black caps, performed drills holding sticks and also took part in a parade to mark the day.
'Dussehra' marks the conquest of Lord Rama over the demon king Ravana, making it a celebration of the spirit of goodness and the triumph of virtue over vice.
RSS cadet Prabhat Sharma said that more than 200 activists were present on this occasion.
"RSS has the custom of celebrating Vijayadashami, so we are celebrating Vijayadashami," said Sharma.
