Russell Crowe starrer biblical blockbuster 'Noah' had topped the weekend box office by earning 44 million dollars.
The film, which is directed by Darren Aronofsky, beat 'Divergent', pushing it to the second position with 25.3 million dollars, followed by Disney's 'Muppets Most Wanted' with 11.4 million dollars, Fox News reported.
'Noah', which has an environmental component, had come under fire from Christian groups for deviating too drastically from the Old Testament story.
