Russia's secret service agents may have executed the troops that are suspected of downing Malaysian Airlines flight MH17, according to sources.
According to the Daily Star, sources said that Moscow may have made this decision in order to leave no trace of living witnesses to the incident.
A Dutch-led probe said concluding the tragedy that a BUK missile fired from rebel-held territory in Ukraine downed the Boeing 777, killing all 298 people on board.
According to a report by the Netherlands' state broadcaster NOS, it is highly likely the aircraft was shot out of the sky by Russian military personnel.
The final accident report by the Dutch Safety Board is expected to be published in August this year.
