The sixth meeting of the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (SAARC) Home Ministers and secretaries of interior, home and immigration authorities will be held here from today.
The meeting is expected to focus on issues like suppression of terrorism, maritime security and piracy, narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, combating corruption, cyber crimes and mutual assistance in criminal matters.
According to an official release, "Trafficking in women and children and promotion of child welfare in South Asia are also likely to be discussed in the meet."
The three-day meeting will begin at the joint secretary-level, and will be followed by secretary and home minister-level meetings.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to attend the conference on Friday, accompanied by Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami and other senior ministry officials.
