The Mumbai Sessions Court has framed charges against Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in connection with the 2002 hit-and-run case in a Mumbai court today.
The Mumbai Sessions Court framed charges against the actor under sections 304 part (2), 279, 337, 338, of the IPC and section 134(a)(b) Motor Vehicles act section 66.
The actor will be tried for culpable homicide not amounting to murder under Section 304 of IPC for which he can face a jail term upto 10 years.
On his part, Khan pleaded not guilty and also sought exemption from appearing in person for the next hearing, which has been granted.
The Court has transferred the case to be heard by another judge.
Khan's Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle had rammed into a bakery in suburban Bandra killing one and injuring four persons who were sleeping on a pavement on September 28, 2002.
