Samsung reportedly announced its new smartphone, the Galaxy Alpha that showcases the company's "new design approach" and dumps the all-plastic frame in favor of a metallic one, two days ago.
The Alpha is sleek (6.7 mm), and has a 4.7-inch 720p display, 12-megapixel camera, a small 1,860mAh battery and a quad- or octa-core processor. Samsung is expected to announce the price of the phone in September, reported The Verge.
The company has introduced flat metal sides with chamfered edges in this phone and has termed it an evolution of Galaxy Design. However, the design is very similar to the Galaxy S5 and retains its dimpled, removable back cover.
The new design will allow Samsung to roll out the smartphones in a variety of colors at minimal expense.
