Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez will miss the first match of the 2015-16 Premier League season after he was given an extended break following his exploits with Chile at the Copa America.
The Chilean scored 25 goals for the Gunners last season as Arsene Wenger's side finished third in the Premier League.
Wenger said that Sanchez would be back with team on August 3 and usually it takes three weeks to be competitive, the BBC reported.
The 26-year old will also miss the Community Shield match against Chelsea on August 2.
Arsenal will start their Premier League campaign against West Ham on August 9, and if Sanchez requires a full three weeks to be fit for the match, he could also miss the games against Crystal Palace and Liverpool.
