Saqlain Mushtaq confident 'remodeled action' will allow Ajmal to return soon

Former Pakistan spinner Saqlain Mushtaq has said that their ace off-spinner Saeed Ajmal would be cleared to play for domestic side Worcestershire and Pakistan again once his remodeled action is approved.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) banned Ajmal after the off-spinner was reported for a suspect action by the umpires during the first Test with Sri Lanka in August. Ajmal has since been working with former Pakistan Test player Mushtaq to improve his action.

Mushtaq said that they have changed the action and follow through, adding that they have changed Ajmal's horizontal bowling arm movement and, at the moment, they are very positive, The BBC reported.

Mushtaq claimed that there is massive improvement upto about 70 to 80 percent they have changed and improved Ajmal's action. He added that as soon as his ban ends, the off spinner would obviously come straight back to playing for Worcester and not only them but also Pakistan.

Ajmal had said last month that Mushtaq's appointment on a short-term deal with the Pakistan Cricket Board has been a big factor in getting him back on track.

He had said that most of his deliveries are now within the 15-degree limit, adding that the ICC's rules stipulate that all deliveries have to be under 15 degrees and he is very confident that he would achieve that target.

In the last few days, Ajmal was named in Pakistan's provisional 30-man World Cup squad in the expectation that the ICC might clear him by early next year, the report added.
