Saudi Arabian women rights activists have appealed the government to overturn their 10-month jail terms for inciting a woman to defy her husband's authority.

BBC reports that Wajeha al-Huwaider and Fawzia al-Oyouni had taken up the case of Canadian Nathalie Morin two years ago, who complained of serious abuse by her Saudi husband.

According to the report, they were arrested and charged with attempted kidnap while trying to provide food to abandoned Morin in her apartment.

Later, they were found guilty of inciting a wife to defy her husband's authority.

They were sentenced to a ten-month jail sentence and a two-year travel ban, report added.
