The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Centre and Delhi Government about long or short-term measures that can be adopted to mitigate air pollution in the national capital region.

The apex court was hearing the petition of the toll companies, which have been opposing its direction on collection of pollution surcharge of commercial vehicles.

During the hearing, Chief Justice of India T.S. Thakur observed that 'Delhi is earning bad name and air pollution is a serious matter for people'.

He said that plans must be in place to let the world know what we are doing about pollution.
