Matt Damon starrer dystopian science fiction thriller 'Elysium' topped the U.S. weekend box office with earnings amounting to 30.5 million dollars.
The action film, directed by Neill Blomkamp, knocked off Jennifer Aniston's new comedy 'We're the Millers', which opened in second place with 26.6 million dollars, Fox News reported.
Disney's new animated movie 'Planes' was another new entry at the third place with a 22.5 million dollars gross, while 'Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters' and '2 Guns' rounded out the new top five.
