Scotland skipper Preston Mommsen has lavished praise on his team for putting up a stout fight against title-favourites New Zealand in their World Cup opener in Dunedin.
New Zealand lost seven wickets while chasing down a paltry target of 142, and ultimately sealing the victory with 25.1 overs to spare.
Reflecting on his team's performance, Mommsen said that two wickets in two balls changed it completely, and they would have been sniffing victory, the BBC reported.
Mommsen further said that there were some jittery moments for Brendon McCullum's men towards the end of the game, adding that he was pretty proud of the performance, especially the fight and the character they showed in the second half.
Scotland will next meet England on Monday at Christchurch.
