Newly released secret tapes of Carla Bruni have revealed the fact that the former model was unhappy with her husband Nicolas Sarkozy's salary while he was the French president.

In one of the tapes, Bruni is heard saying that she was under the impression she was marrying a guy that made some money, the New York Post reported.

While complaining about the dearth of modeling contracts post her marriage with Sarkozy, Bruni said that she had lucrative contracts and now nothing.

The tapes were recorded by political adviser Patrick Buisson for his own personal reference but were leaked to French media.
