Security forces gun down five militants in Balochistan

At least five suspected militants belonging to the banned Baloch Republican Army were killed and one arrested by the security forces in a fierce gun battle in Dera Bugti district of Balochistan province yesterday.

A large quantity of arms and ammunitions were also seized from the camps, which were destroyed.

Frontier Corps spokesman confirmed that the militants belonged to banned Baloch Republican Army, reports the Dawn.

He said that a search operation was carried out by the FC personnel and intelligence agencies acting on a tip- off about the presence of militants on the outskirts of Dera Bugti.

The arrested militant has been over to the concerned authorities for interrogation.

The militants were involved in attacks on the security forces besides extortion and kidnapping for ransom. They had also caused damage to the gas pipeline.

Meanwhile, the FC personnel also defused a bomb planted on the main railway track linking Quetta with the rest of the country and arrested eight suspects in connection with the same.

They also recovered arms and drugs from their possession.
