Senior Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) leader Brigadier Jagdish Gagneja (Retd) passed away on Thursday morning after battling for life at the Hero DMC Heart Institute for over 45 days.
The senior RSS leader died after suffering from a lung infection.
As per reports, Gagneja was shifted to DMC Heart Institute from Patel Hospital in Jalandhar on August 7, a day after two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants had shot at him there.
Brig Gagneja had joined the RSS after retiring from the Army in 2004 and kept a low profile. The attack against him was extensively probed by Punjab Police with DGP Suresh Arora also visiting the crime spot.
