Sensex jumps 300 points in early trade Wednesday

The Sensex and Nifty rose by 300 points in the opening session today on fresh buying by funds and retail investors

The Sensex, which jumped 321 points in early trade, lost its gains marginally and was trading up by 61 points at 18,307 a short while ago.

The National Stock Exchange index Nifty recovered 28 points to 5,429 in afternoon trade.

The Indian rupee, which had pulled back to 63.12 after a negative start, traded at 63.40 against yesterday's close of 63.25.
