Serbian Dy Prime Minister Ivica Dacic holds bilateral talks with Swaraj

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Thursday discussed bilateral issues with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic, who is on a three-day visit to India.

The visit was conducted as part of the regular high-level exchanges between the two countries. Dacic was accompanied by certain ministers from his department.

Dacic held a meeting with EAM Sushma Swaraj as part of which the two ministers discussed on a range of bilateral, regional, and global issues, as per a release issued by the Ministry of External Affairs on Friday.

The two countries signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of culture, sports, youth and mass media.

Further discussions were held upon bilateral cooperation in sectors including trade and investment, agriculture and food processing, science and technology, information technology, Defence, health and pharmaceuticals, and culture and tourism.

On May 3 Dacic called upon Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu. Earlier in the day, Dacic delivered a speech on 'Serbia in the region, Europe and the World' at the Indian Council of World Affairs.

Earlier on May 2 he also visited Agra.

Further, the release noted that the India and Serbia had shared close and historic relationship and the bilateral trade between the countries has increased substantially.

Several Indian companies had invested in Serbia in sectors such as farm equipment (tractors), food processing and pharmaceuticals.

Further India had extended its e-visa facility to Serbian nationals. Serbia had abolished visas for the Indian nationals in September 2017.

Such initiatives are expected to boost tourism between the two countries.

Earlier in January 2017 Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic visited India.

Dacic is scheduled to depart from India on Friday.
