World number one Serena Williams has bagged her 20th Grand Slam title after beating her Czech opponent Lucie Safarova in the French Open final in thrilling three sets here on Saturday.
The American battled past the flu to beat 13th seed Safarova 6-3, 6-7 (2-7), 6-2 in a contest that lasted two hours and one minute, the BBC reported.
Although Safarova wrestled her way back into the game brilliantly to win the second set, Serena outwitted her opponent in the decider by winning the last six games.
With the win, Serena became the third player-male or female- to bag 20 major singles titles.
