World number one Serena Williams has moved to seventh in the all-time WTA titles list after beating home favourite Sara Errani to retain her Italian Open title on Sunday.
The 32-year-old American secured her 60th WTA title with a straight 6-3 6-0 sets victory over Errani at Rome's Foro Italico, reports the BBC.
Serena has now taken her record on clay to 53 wins and two defeats since 2012. She now heads to the French Open as a strong favourite.
For Williams, this was her seventh win over Errani, who said the former is certainly one of the best women tennis players in the world, if not the best in the world.
Williams said that while she never expected to play so well, she felt sorry for Errani, who had played great all week.
