South Africa's vice-captain Hashim Amla has insisted that upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand will provide a great opportunity for the team to test the depth of the limited over resources available in the squad.
Amla said that it is no better time to test the depth of the squad, Sport24 reported.
Speaking ahead of the first ODI to be played in Centurion on Wednesday, Amla said that players, all around the world are getting injured or rested, adding that the situation does give a great opportunity to the players who are eyeing for the spot in their respective national teams.
He stressed that the likes of David Miller who has been playing for a long time would now assume a senior role in the side.
He added that Rilee Rossouw would play and if Faf Du Plessis doesn't play then Farhaan Behardien would get an opportunity to show his worth again in the three-match series.
