In a major setback to ruling Arvind Kejriwal led-Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government in the national capital, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday rejected its plea to scrap management quota in Nursery admission in the private schools.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on January 5, announced that there would not be any quota applicable in nursery admissions except Economically Weaker Section quota (EWS). Kejriwal ordered all private schools to follow the new rule, as action would taken against schools that don't comply with the order.
The high court had earlier stayed AAP Government's order scrapping management quota in nursery admissions in private schools, saying the decision was taken without the authority of law.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had earlier defended his government's decision to scrap the quota criteria, alleging that private unaided schools in the national capital had become a "hub of corruption" as they were running "admission rackets" under the garb of management quota.
