18-year-old Pakistan leg spinner Shadab Khan, who made a dream start to his international career during the recently-concluded successful T20 series against West Indies, has been retained in the 16-member Test squad for the three-match series against the Caribbean side, beginning April 21 at Sabina Park.
Shadab, who has also been named in the ODI squad, celebrated a dream debut for Pakistan, claiming three wickets in his side's six-wicket win over West Indies in the opening T20 of the four-match series, which the visitors went on to clinch by 3-1.
Openers Ahmad Shahzad and Shan Masood have also been named in the squad, while right-arm pacer Mohammad Abbas is also included in the squad, which is announced by the Inzamam-ul-Haq-led National Selection Committee.
Meanwhile, veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez was the most notable exclusion from the Pakistan Test squad, which will be led by Misbah-ul-Haq.
Asserting that the team is a perfect blend of young and experienced players, Inzamam said that the squad has been chosen keeping in mind the West Indian conditions.
"The Test team has been selected keeping in mind the conditions in the West Indies and the recent performances of players during the domestic and international season. The team is a fine blend of experience and youth, and we believe that team will do well," the Express Tribune quoted Inzamam as saying.
The Pakistan Test squad is as follows:
Misbahul Haq (captain), Ahmad Shahzad, Azhar Ali, Shan Masood, Babar Azam, Younus Khan, Asad Shafiq, Sarfraz Ahmed (wicketkeeper/vice-captain), Usman Salahuddin, Yasir Shah, Shadab Khan, Muhammad Asghar, Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Abbas.
