The Shamli gang-rape victim, who was shot at on her way to the court proceedings in Muzaffarnagar earlier on Friday, is battling for her life at the LLRM Medical College in Meerut.
After her brutal gang-rape earlier in January this year, the victim had to run from pillar to post, pleading with the police for help to get an FIR lodged. She had even informed the police that her life was in danger.
On Friday, six men, including four of the alleged rapists, shot at her as she was on her way to attend a court hearing.
Shamli's Assistant Superintendent of Police Anil Jha, who is handling this case, said there has been an ongoing feud due to land between two families.
"We have filed cases earlier and they have filed cases amongst themselves as well. We are looking into the matter keeping in mind all these cases," he added.
