Russian tennis ace Maria Sharapova climbed to the second place in the WTA women's rankings on Monday after defeating Petra Kvitova to claim the China Open title on Sunday.
American tennis ace Serena Williams, who is out with a knee injury, saw her points slip to 8,645, while Sharapova moved to 6,680, ahead of Romania's Simona Halep 6,246 and Petra Kvitova 6,126, Sport24 reported.
