Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas has great pleasure in announcing the joining of Amit Khansaheb together with a team of 5 other Partners, who were until recently with the firm of BMR Legal.

Amit brings with him over 18 years of experience as a lawyer. Prior to joining Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Amit has had a long career at Desai Diwanji (1998 - 2013) and spent over 4 years at BMR Legal. Amit specializes in M&A and Private Equity, where he has excelled over the last decade and more.

The team joining Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas comprises six partners and 32 lawyers, who will be based across three locations including Gurugram, Bengaluru and Mumbai.

This addition of experienced partners and talented lawyers will give a significant boost to the Firm's practice. The partnership will grow from 85 Partners to 91, boosting the Firm's total strength to over 470 fee earners.

These additions are separate from and in addition, to the campus recruitments where another substantial batch of newly qualified lawyers will join Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas by July, 2017 catapulting the Firm to a size in excess of 500 lawyers.

The strategic focus of the Firm is to enhance its talent by actively looking out for opportunities to team with quality lawyers in the legal market the Firm services.

"Extremely delighted with this development as Amit Khansaheb's team of 38 lawyers with similar capabilities and excellence in Corporate Law, M&A, Private Equity and Venture Capital are joining the Firm, at a time when talent is scarce in the market. This enhances the national footprint of the Firm as an integrated enterprise," said executive chairman Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Shardul Shroff.

"The Firm has quietly gone about its goal of pursuing excellence and growth. In the same spirit, it has teamed with Amit Khansaheb and his corporate law team," said managing partner Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Pallavi Shroff.

"This accretion of lawyers at the Firm's Gurugram, Bengaluru and Mumbai offices will substantially enhance the capability and reach of the Firm," said managing partner Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Akshay Chudasama.

"I am delighted to have received this opportunity to move to the larger platform of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas to ensure the enhancement and growth of their practice and each member of their team." He was particularly grateful to Mukesh Butani and other Partners at BMR Legal for all their support during his tenure at BMR Legal and for offering to facilitate a smooth transition for the corporate team whilst retaining their top tier tax practice at BMR Legal," added Amit Khansaheb.

The new team will join the Firm in June of 2017.
