Pakistan foreign ministry spokesperson Khalilullah Qazi on Thursday said that the proposals given by Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the United Nations General Assembly(UNGA) will provide an opportunity for reducing tension and resolving outstanding issues between India and Pakistan.

"As the Prime Minister said that these proposals are on the table, hopefully sooner or later India would realise the wisdom in these proposals. These proposals provide opportunity for reducing tension and resolving all outstanding issues between the two countries," Qazi told media here.

On the issue of ban on sale of beef in India, Qazi said: "India is the second largest exporter of beef in the world. This obviously cannot happen without slaughtering of cows. The tax against Muslims for slaughtering of cows are therefore beyond comprehension and a cause of concern for the Muslims."

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had proposed renewed peace talks with India, while speaking at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) last month.

Sharif had said that one of his key priorities is to strengthen relationship with neighbouring India, to end the conflict that dates back to the independence of both countries.
