Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be visiting Washington, but not with any grand expectations, except for hopes of getting economic assistance and increased trade.
Sharif would be seeking to address the Obama administration's concerns about the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government's position on fighting terrorist groups in the country, Dawn News reports.
According to the report, the terrorism issue has been prioritized on the first visit by a Pakistani premier to U.S. in five years as it would shape the Washington's policy towards Islamabad as the two countries try to restore their ministerial level strategic dialogue.
Foreign Office Spokesman Aizaz Chaudhry listed four priorities for the Nawaz's trip to U.S. as:
1. highlighting government's economic development agenda,
2. discussing measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation,
3. seeking to enhance trade and investment, and
4. sharing vision for peace and stability in the region.
harif would also explain the reason behind pursuing peace dialogue with Taliban militants in the country.
