Veteran actor-filmmaker Shashi Kapoor received the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award on Sunday at a special ceremony at the Prithvi Theatres here.
Shashi Kapoor, who was presented the award by Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Arun Jaitley, was unable to attend the National Film Awards held earlier in Delhi due to his ill health.
The ceremony was attended by an august gathering of the Bollywood film fraternity, including Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Hema Malini, Raj Babbar, Zeenat Aman, Waheeda Rehman, Saif Ali Khan, Asha Parekh, Asha Bhosle Divya Datta, Rajit Kapur, and the Kapoor family, among others.
Shashi Kapoor was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2011.
