India's team director Ravi Shastri has urged his side to play 'consistent cricket' if they want to win in the upcoming matches against South Africa.

He said that 'sustained brilliance' would be the key, adding that their style of play would remain unchanged.

ESPNcricinfo quoted Shastri as saying, "I know he has copped a lot of flak over the aggression and he will learn where to draw a line. But let me assure you, he has the backing of the entire team."

Shastri further backed pace spearhead Ishant Sharma, who will miss first Test, saying that he is India's most experienced bowler, adding he wants him to remain aggressive but in limits.

Earlier, Sharma was handed a one-match suspension after being found guilty of breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during the penultimate day's play in the third Test against India at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Colombo.

India will play three T20 internationals, five ODIs and four Test series against South Africa, starting from October 2.
