Pakistani batsman Ahmed Shehzad is facing disciplinary action for making religious comments to Sri Lanka's Tillakaratne Dilshan after Saturday's ODI in Dambulla.

Shehzad was shown in a footage, telling Dilshan that if he is a non-Muslim and he turns Muslim, no matter whatever he does in his life, he will go straight to heaven. Following Dilshan's inaudible reply, the Pakistani batsman added that he should be ready for the fire then.

Pakistan internationals are banned from making religious or political comments. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan said that there is a clause, which states clearly that players should not indulge in talk of religious or political nature in public while representing Pakistan, The BBC reported.

Khan said that Shehzad has violated this clause on evidence of what they have seen in the video footage of the incident. He added that the Sri Lankan board had not complained about the incident.

Shehzad, who has played five Tests and 48 ODIs, scored 10 runs in Saturday's match, which Sri Lanka won by seven wickets to clinch the three-match series. He claims that the comments were just banter with Dilshan and that he meant nothing by it.
