Heavy rains and fresh snowfall in Chharabra and Kufri areas of the district has thrown daily life in Shimla out of gear.
During the past 24 hours, the temperature in the region has dropped by three to four degree Celsius.
Local residents in Kufri and Chharabra areas of Shimla are facing troubles due to harsh cold conditions. Vehicles have been stranded in several snow bond parts in the state with ice-covered roads resulting in skidding of vehicles.
The capital town, Shimla recorded minus 3.8 degree Celsius minimum temperature.
Keylong in Lahaul Spiti recorded minimum temperature of minus 9.8 degree Celsius, lowest in Himachal Pradesh.
Kalpa in Kinnaur recorded minimum temperature of minus 4.2 degrees Celsius, whereas minimum temperature at Manali, Kufri and Dalhousie was recorded at minus 0.6, minus 1.6 and minus 0.8 degree Celsius respectively.
Himachal Pradesh meteorological department has forecast more declines in night temperature while expecting day temperature to rise.
Meanwhile, snow-clearing operations were being carried out in affected parts of the state.
Earlier in the day, one Army jawan was killed and five other jawans were trapped after an avalanche hit them in Namgya region of Kinnaur district of the state.
As many as 16 Army men had started from Namgya to Shipkila on Wednesday morning to repair water supply line for the Army area here under Pooh subdivision of Kinnaur district, according to Gopal Chand, Deputy Commissioner, Kinnaur district.
