The Shiv Sena workers staged a protest against Pakistani ghazal singer Ustad Ghulam Ali here on Friday.
Holding placards in their hands, the protestors took to the streets and raised slogans against the Pakistani singer.
"We will not let Ghulam Ali perform here. We don't want a Pakistani singer to come in our land, these Pakistanis attack our nation in several ways and we let one of them come in our land, this will not happen. We will keep on protesting against this.
And if he is allowed here then the government will be held responsible for the dire consequences," Said a protestor.
Ghulam Ali will perform at Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple in Varanasi during the inaugural day of its annual music concert beginning on April 26.
The performance by Ali, who had participated in the concert last year as well, will be preceded by classical singer Pandit Vishwanath.
Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit has also been invited by the temple authorities. The other invitees include Prime Minister Narendra Modi and actor Amitabh Bachchan, who will recite Hanuman Chalisa during the programme.
Around 57 renowned classical singers and musicians are said to perform at the concert on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti.
