Tourism and Culture Minister Shripad Yesso Naik has welcomed the initiatives announced in the Railway Budget to promote tourism, particularly the plan to take up eco-tourism and education tourism in north eastern states.
In a statement here today, Naik thanked Railway Minister Sadanand Gowda for acceding to his request for identifying the Mumbai-Goa sector for increasing the speed of trains to 160-200 kmph to reduce travel time between the two major tourism centres.
He also thanked the Railway Minister for including new line Solapur-Tuljapur in the list of new surveys.
He said that these new initiatives will go a long way in promoting tourism in the country.
Naik also assured full cooperation of Ministries of Tourism and Culture to the Indian Railways for speedy implementation of the projects.
He said, both Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Culture will work in close coordination with the Indian Railways to fulfill the aspirations of both domestic and international visitors.
