Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu eased into the quarterfinals of the Indonesia Masters Grand Prix after defeating local favourite Wulan Cahya Utami Sukoputri in the women's singles event on Thursday.
The two-time bronze medallist at World Championship claimed a 21-12, 21-9 win over her Indonesian rival in a second round contest that lasted 24 minutes. Sindhu, who won Macau Open for a third time running last week, will next face He Bingjiao of China.
Meanwhile, Kidambi Srikanth advanced to the third round of the men's singles event with a battling 21-14, 17-21, 25-23 win over Saputra Vicky Angga.
RMV Gurusaidutt also progressed through to the third round with a hard-fought 21-19, 19-21, 21-15 win over Singapore's Kean Yew Loh.
However, third seed HS Prannoy went down 12-21, 22-20, 13-21 against China's Shi Yuqi.
