Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu has emerged as the lone survivor at the USD 120,000 German Grand Prix Gold after storming into the quarterfinals of the women's singles event.
Seventh seed Sindhu claimed a 21-9, 21-17 win over Michelle LI of Canada in a one-sided second round encounter and will next face fourth seeded Wang Shixian.
However, it turned out be a disappointing day for other Indians, including Parupalli Kashyap and Kidambi Srikanth and men's doubles pair of Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Re.
Commonwealth Games champion Kashyap was forced to retire when he was trailing 12-21, 11-16 to Son Wan Ho of South Korea in the pre-quarterfinals clash.
Meanwhile, sixth seed Srikanth crashed out of the tournament after going down 21-18, 18-21, 18-21 against NG Ka Long Angus of Hong Kong.
On the other hand, men's doubles duo of Attri and Sumeeth Re was beaten 10-21, 10-21 by Chinese Taipei's Lee Sheng Mu and Tsai Chia Hsin.
