Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday announced that he would contest the state assembly elections from Chamundeshwari constituency in Mysuru.
"This is my last election, I will fight from Chamundeshwari because Chamundeshwari's people have been responsible for my political re-birth," Siddaramaiah said.
The Karnataka Chief Minister's statement comes after JDS state president HD Kumaraswamy expressed scepticism over him contesting from the aforesaid constituency.
Talking to reporters on March 28, Kumaraswamy had said, "If he (Siddaramaiah) contests from Chamundeshwari, write it down today itself, when election results are declared on May 15, wherever I'm, I will come down to Mysuru to discuss with you about his defeat".
The 224-member Karnataka Assembly will go to polls on May 12, and counting of votes will be held on May 15.
