Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has urged Singaporeans to not 'tarnish' their view of migrants.
The comments from Loong came after protests broke out in Singapore following death of an Indian national in an accident.
Loong also said that the 'the vast majority of foreign workers' in Singapore were law-abiding.
According to the BBC, police arrested 27 people, mostly Indian nationals, after hundreds carried out protests in the Little India district.
Trouble began after the 33-year-old man was knocked down and killed by a private bus.
About 400 foreign workers took to the streets, throwing railings at police, and setting police cars and an ambulance ablaze, the report said.
Rioting in Singapore is punishable by up to seven years in prison plus caning.
Loong said on Facebook that people should not to react negatively towards migrant workers in Singapore, it added.
He added that migrants contributed to Singapore's economy, working hard to earn a living and support their families back home.
He added that people should not tarnish their views of workers here following one incident.
