At least six people were injured in a rampage that broke out after an army recruitment camp was cancelled.

People in Gwalior vandalized shops and set cars afire, claiming there were irregularities in the selection.

Police had to use tear gas and a baton charge to disperse the crowds.

"The management was unable to handle the huge crowd of candidates, so they decided to cancel the recruitment rally, after which candidates went on a rampage. The administration had a difficult time controlling the mob. We are trying to send back the candidates to their respective places," said Senior Superintendent of the Police (SSP) Santosh Singh.

Nearly 15,000 candidates turned up for the rally held at a local fair ground.
