Snapchat has been using emojis to alert its users when they receive a message from their best friend, their friend's best friend, and others.

If you receive a picture from a person who you message the most and who also happens to be your best friend, you will see a heart. However, in case your friend sends you the highest number of snaps but you have another best friend then, you'll see a side-eyed smirk, reported The Verge.

Other emojis are detailed inside the app itself.

Snapchat earlier featured a "best friends" list that showed both you and the world the people you regularly shared snaps with. It was rolled back in a recent update.

However, unlike the "best friends" list, the new emoji feature is not public.
