Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit on Monday reiterated his earlier remarks regarding party president Sonia Gandhi, terming her the 'most capable person' to lead the political organisation.
"A lot of discussion is going on over who will lead the party. I believe very honestly that Mrs. Gandhi is the most capable person to lead the Congress. She brought us into power in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections," Dikshit told ANI.
The former Delhi MP further said that his stand was not a reflection on party vice president Rahul Gandhi's leadership qualities.
"Rahul Gandhi is a very capable leader, but when I have to make a choice at a time that is delicate, Sonia ji will remain our best general," he said.
Recent speculation suggests that Rahul Gandhi, who has taken a leave of absence from party affairs, is allegedly unhappy with the post of vice president and is pushing to take the top job.
