Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday presented the prestigious Arjuna Award to crickter R. Ashwin here.
The award was conferred to Ashwin last year, but the 28-year-old off-spinner was not present at the award ceremony held on August 29, 2014 at Rashtrapati Bhawan as he was touring England as part of the Indian cricket team.
Ashwin has taken 124 wickets in 25 tests at an average of 30.20, while in ODI's he has taken 139 wickets in 99 matches at an average of 31.40. Ashwin also has two centuries and four half centuries in test matches.
