South Korean President Park Geun-hye arrived here this evening on an official four-day state visit to India.
She will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday. Both leaders are expected to discuss and review each other's positions on bilateral, regional and global issues.
Both India and South Korea are expected to sign several agreements after the talks.
President Park Geun-hye will also meet President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj.
She is being accompanied by a high-powered delegation which includes the foreign minister, the Minister for Science, ICT and Future Planning, and the Minister for Trade and Industry.
The visit is expected to strengthen the India-Korea Strategic Partnership. The two countries have a very robust economic relationship and bilateral trade reached over USD 18 billion in 2012.
South Korea is a major investment partner in India.
About 300 Korean companies functioning in India. Indian companies too have a presence in South Korea in areas relating to motor vehicles, IT and pharmaceuticals.
The two sides also have a wide-ranging defence relationship.
