Six-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt will compete in the New York Diamond League on June 13, organisers have confirmed on Wednesday.
The Jamaican sprint superstar set his first 100 metres world record by clocking 9.72 seconds at Icahn Stadium on May 31, 2008.
Bolt, who is the current 100 and 200-metres record-holder, said that no one could ever forget their first world record, adding that he would never forget the crowd in New York that night, Sport24 reported.
Recalling the 2008 race, Bolt said that the crowd had to wait for an hour during a thunderstorm delay before their race, adding that he didn't think a single person left the stadium.
Bolt maintained that the crowd deserved a great performance and he was glad he had been able to give it to them.
Bolt added that he was looking forward to running in New York again.
The New York meet will act as a built-up to Bolt's preparation for the Jamaican Championships in late June, the qualifying meet for this year's World Championships.
