Not directly crediting the Center for successfully carrying out the September 29 surgical strikes, former Director General of Military operation (DGMO) Vinod Bhatia on Wednesday said the recent strikes across the Line of Control (LoC) by the Indian Army demonstrated a political will, which has not been done earlier.
"It (surgical strike) demonstrated a political will, which has not been demonstrated earlier in this way," Bhatia told ANI.
Bhatia said one cannot compare August 2011 operation Ginger with the recent surgical strike as they are very different in nature.
"Surgical strikes are totally different in domain, dimension and had different aims, and they were carried out in a very personal manner," he said.
Earlier, Parrikar said that he would only share the credit of the surgical strikes conducted by the Indian Army with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, adding that the major share of the success goes to the latter for taking apt decision and planning.
Parrikar also took a jibe on the cynical criticism surrounding the strikes, saying that doubters can also share the credit for the success of the same.
