The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday strongly condemned the statement of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed with regards to the 'rehabilitation' of militants, terming it an insult to the people of the state.
The BJP was reacting to Mufti's statements on Thursday, directing the state police to initiate the release of all political prisoners.
"The BJP strongly condemns the release of militants or separatists until the sentence accorded to them is completed," Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha state president Ravinder Raina told ANI.
"The policy of surrender and rehabilitation of militants will be an insult to the nationalist people of Jammu and Kashmir," he added.
Last week, the BJP and Mufti's PDP had formed a coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir after two months of President's rule.
