Sussex players, coach 'sickened and disgusted' at 'alleged' fixing by Vincent, Arif

The coach and the players of English county side Sussex have reportedly been left 'sickened' and 'disgusted' with their former teammate and former New Zealand batsman Lou Vincent's alleged match fixing while playing for the team.

Vincent was charged by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) with 14 offences, relating to two county cricket matches he played for Sussex in 2011, while another former player Naveed Arif was charged with six offences.

According to Stuff.co.nz, Sussex cricket bosses, unhappy their club has been dragged into a worldwide corruption scandal, have vented their anger, with Sussex coach Mark Robinson revealing the pain he felt upon discovering that two of his former charges had been allegedly engaged in corruption.

Stating that the whole club is 'devastated', 'hurting' and 'deeply shocked', Robinson said that given that the players' ethos is built on a will to win, the thought that any player among them may have been working against that aim sickened and disgusted them.

Robinson admitted that it is impossible to know the true colours of a player while recruiting him, adding that as soon as the club found anything was happening, everything was put into place.

Meanwhile, Sussex captain Ed Joyce described Vincent and Arif as 'alleged bad apples', saying that there is a lot of anger is the dressing room due to the pair.
