The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said the security cover accorded to senior party leader Subramanian Swamy by the NDA government was based on intelligence inputs.
"The Central Government doesn't provide any security to anyone on its own whims and fancies. It is only by the central intelligence's feedback that the government takes a decision. So I believe if any decision has been taken to provide security to Subramanian Swamy that has been taken only after due intelligence feeds were taken into consideration," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra told ANI here.
Swamy has been accorded Z-category security by the government under central protectee list. Till now, Swamy enjoyed Z-category security in Tamil Nadu only but now his security cover has been extended all over India.
The move comes after Swamy had cited security threats a couple of months back.
