Sweden's Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia on Sunday mourned the sudden demise of Swedish DJ Avicii, who had performed at their wedding in 2015.

An official statement read, "It is with great sadness that we received the news that Tim Bergling has died. We are grateful that we got to know him and admired him as an artist and the nice person he was," reported People Magazine.

"He made our wedding unforgettable with his amazing music. Our warmest thoughts go out to his family," the statement added.

Avicii, who played at Carl Philip and Sofia's wedding, had described the night as an "amazing experience."

"Thank you so much for an amazing experience and for having me on your special night. Congratulations Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia - i wish you nothing but the best!," the late musician had written on Instagram.

Tim Bergling, popularly known as Avicii, passed away at the age of 28, on April 20.

A statement from his publicist Diana Baron read, "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii."

"He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given," the statement added.

The artist, known for songs such as 'Wake Me Up', 'Lonely Together', and 'Levels,' had retired from tours in 2016 due to health issues.
