A Swedish Member of Parliament on Tuesday said bilateral relations between India and Sweden will grow stronger through increased trade and exchange.
Talking to ANI, Swedish MP Anna Kinberg said there is a good exchange between India and Sweden.
"We have a good exchange between both the countries, so I look forward to deepening that. I think that was also the message from the Swedish PM. We have long-term ties and they can only grow stronger from here if we increase trade and exchange," Kinberg said.
India and Sweden co-hosted Nordic Summit on Tuesday in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven, Prime Minister of Denmark Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Prime Minister of Finland Juha Sipila, Prime Minister of Iceland Katrín Jakobsdottir, and Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg participated.
A Joint Statement after the summit said that the Prime Ministers pledged to deepen cooperation between the Nordic countries and India, and focused their discussions on key issues related to global security, economic growth, innovation and climate change.
The Prime Ministers reaffirmed the importance of free trade as a catalyst for achieving inclusive growth and realising the Sustainable Development Goals.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on arrived late Monday night in the capital of Sweden, the first bilateral visit by an Indian premier to the Nordic nation in 30 years.
